An unexpected find in an old French workshop. An extraordinary discovery of a superb collection of 19th c. moulds was discovered in an old workshop in Paris. The collection included many moulds of masterpieces from 17th and 18th century originals in French and Italian museums, created by some of the most legendary artists known to history including Houdon, Clodion, Giradon and Falconet. Highlights of the collection include models of Greco-Roman museum antiquities including the Roman period Capitoline Urn, housed in the Capitol Museum, in Rome. This famous urn is the archetypal classical urn known as the Medici Urn.
The French Ministry of Culture. You will notice "RMN" in the descriptions of some of the urns. RMN stands for Réunion des Musées Nationaux which has given permission, under the supervision of the French Ministry of Culture, to faithfully re-create these masterpieces which are in the Louvre Museum's permanent collections.
Keeping the tradition alive. Each work of art sculpted in terracotta means going back in time using techniques first recorded in Antiquity. Our skilled European artisans are bringing the splendid French tradition of terracotta sculpture back to life again.
Our Proler Museum Collection of terracotta garden ornaments are made to remain outside in all weathers (up to minus 15 degrees Fahrenheit), and are designed to develop a natural patina over time.
