Antique delicately carved stone campana form urn with leaf motif and gadrooned base, supported by a square socle. Solid square base included. England, circa 1840.

A pair of important Scottish stoneware urns on pedestals

A pair of important Scottish stoneware urns on pedestals. Possibly Garnkirk. Circa 1860. The campana form urns with floral decoration and gadrooned bodies together on square bases atop a pair of matching pedestals with Greek key design at their rims.

The Scottish-based Garnkirk Fire-Clay Works, was established by the Sprot family. Although the firm was already in business at an earlier date, by 1833 it was advertising "ornamental vases after the antique", and became preeminent around 1850. The company is recorded as exhibiting at the 1851 Great Exhibition at the Crystal Palace in London. In 1901 it went out of business.

An exceptional pair of French cast-iron urns on pedestals by Alfred Corneau, with egg and dart molding on the rim, gadrooned bowls, square bases and scrolling acanthus leaf handles atop floriate pedestals inset with lozenge shape panels. Stamped "Corneau Fréres Charleville no. 2". Circa 1860.

Stoneware neoclassical-style urn on stand

Important Scottish Garnkirk stoneware neoclassical-style urn on stand, circa 1850. The urn foot and paneled stepped base pedestal stamped Garnkirk. Nicely weathered with crisp surface. Good antique condition.

This urn was exhibited at London's Great Exhibition of 1851, and is illustrated in the Garnkirk catalogue as "The Vase of All Nations". It depicts queen Victoria seated resplendently with sceptre and orb surrounded by figures representing Africa, the orient and North America.
